Take out ads in magazines and newspapers?

Any suggestions?

I haven't done much promotion. When I had a socialist subdirectory on my previous ISP, I used to promote it in newsgroups. When I return to using newsgroups, I'll do more.

Where you are is the REAL world. Everyone else is in an imaginary world.

At some point you may appreciate that it may merely be a matter of perspective.

You posit that a discussion group cannot exist "diembodied" from a larger organization - of course one can make unsupported statements all they want, but there is no demonstarted reason that a discussion group in this form cannot thrive - given the need for it. (Committees of Corespondence?)

Why those formerly or currently of the NUP do not correspond is not known to me - but even if they were aware of the group and for whatever reason chose not to participate seems to be a very little business to anyone here - let alone "disgraceful or "chauvinism". And you Vince would be the first to complain if anyone used such language about you.

I would recommend the following...

1. A concise, solid program for deleonism.org - something like the demands at the end of Section II of the Communist Manifesto, or what's in the Junius Pamphlet by Luxemburg. The site needs to have something solid for people to sink their teeth into aside from "Socialist Reconstruction of Society," which is a lengthy read.

2. Commentary on current events from a DeLeonist perspective. De Leon was mind-blowingly prolific, and pretty good in his average analysis of a given event. With the New Unionist turning into a newsletter and drastically cutting its content, there's a need for De Leonist perspective not coming out of the Socialist Labor Party. This site needs original content for people to get excited about; the goal is to get passed around and attention drawn to it.

3. Everyone needs to go elsewhere online and off as well. Participate in discussion and promote the site. Get into mailing lists and link to deleonism.org from time to time, or in your signature. Same for other message boards. Get into the broader socialist movement, even if you don't agree with it on everything, and promote the website to people who sympathize with De Leonism. Find and talk to other socialists in your area. No revolution is going to be built with just De Leonists; that's the suicidal path the SLP has walked down for a long, long time now.

I'm not a pure 100% of any flavor of Marxist, including De Leonist, but I consider De Leon an influence on my socialism, and I'd like a De Leonist voice out there influencing things.

-Wayne

Are the members of this forum with or friendly towards the NUP?

I used to read their paper, good stuff.

I'll put your forum in our forum's links area.

I've been in touch with the NUP, I am not aware of what if anything is going on. They said that they were looking into running a candidate for US Senate in Minnesota - I believe in the race to be voted in November 2005. But I haven't heard anythng else. I don't know if they still put out a paper.

dave

I should have said November 2006
